Keene Earns "Circle of Life" Award from California Rice Commission     

About the Award - Each year the California Rice Commission presents the Circle of Life Award to an individual or organization that has made a significant and lasting impact on California's environment, economy, cuisine and culture. The Circle of Life Award is an opportunity to recognize outstanding leadership that matches the rice industry's goals of promoting the health and well-being of the state's environment, economy, cuisine and culture. -  Assemblyman Rick Keene (R-Chico) demonstrated his strong support for providing mosquito control districts additional funding to ensure public health by successfully championing critical legislation through the Legislature and to the Governor’s desk in 2005.  To read more click here

Keene Named "Legislator Of The Year"

The Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California (MVCAC) named Assemblyman Rick Keene, R-Chico, “Legislator of the Year” for protecting West Nile virus funding.  Keene cast the lone “no” vote against the Budget Conference Committee’s initial decision to reduce West Nile virus control funding from $12 million to $3 million.  These funds support existing local mosquito control districts West Nile virus eradication efforts by increasing personnel, equipment and educational materials.  After Keene urged reconsideration, the Committee voted against such cuts. more
